Hunting places

Fossignano - Aprilia - LT

The little wood where I live. Mostly a mediterranean thick with oaks of all species, elms, myrth, lentisk and fruit trees. The ideal habitat for migrant birds.
I built feeders in order to attract the birds and soon I'll plant more trees and bushes especially for those species who love to hang around in the thick and the shadows of the bushes. Recently I made a little pond just to increase the number of species, with success.

Fogliano - Caprolace and Pantani d'Inferno ponds

A paradise at the center of the Circeo National Park. A place where you can meet everything. Good place for egrets, herons, waders and ducks of every kind. Recently I've seen also a Hen Harrier but I didn't manage to take a decent picture. It's like a ghost and shows up very rarely. There is the always present Marsh harrier, some buzzards and quite a lot of kestrels. But ducks are the real owners of the ponds. Widgeons, mallards and pochards are quite a croed, not to speak about coots... I also herd a bittern but never managed to take a picture.... yet. Egrets and cattle egrets frame the scene watching me in my camo dress running around some bird. Cormorants and Targets are always present. Targets, in tiny number, can be seen in dusk on the abandoned docks on the beach just in font of the lake. All sort of waders are also very appreciated guests of the lake waters. In winter I've also seen some flocks of Cranes. [photo]

Ostia - Oasi del Litorale

Behind the Pasolini's Die area monument stands the little protected area of Ostia. Managed by a bunch of people that fight everyday against concrete, new buildings and the siege of noisy boat owners. there are two little ponds and three useful permanent hides
In autumn/winter I met mostly ducks and swans, some herons and few waders. The place is tiny, close by cementification but it resists.
