Come costruire un capanno da caccia fotografica

As I have plenty of space I decided to buid a tiny yet useful fixed hide. The hide is placed at around 5m away from the feeders that everyday host robins, serins and all sort of little garden birds. Basically it is made by the two side of a triangle without the base. It includes two loopholes of about 22cm and doesn't have a fixed roof.

Two images of the needed material. Picture in this case speak better than words.

Material

  • 3 wood poles for fences, diameter 6-10cm heigh 2,5m
  • 2 wood frames easly made with nails and wood axes of 8-10 cm of large 2cm of thickness
  • 10m of iron bars of about 6mm of diameter.
  • Nails (6cm)
  • Hammer (5kg)
  • Screws
  • Drill
  • Grinder (to cut iron bars)
  • Canes (diameter 3-4 cm) for camo and hide
  • Building time about 4 hors including finding and cutting the canes
Before planting the poles it would be better to immers the point into tar for about 50cm in order not to be rotten during winter time. Plant the poles for about 50cm into the ground with the 5kg hammer.
dettagli Once the poles are fixed cut the iron bars (use protective gloves and glasses please) into 8 bars of about 120cm. Fix two bars at both sides of the wood poles at about 60cm high from the ground level. The other two bars at about 120cm from the ground level.
See the side picture to better understand the building technique. Once the bars are fixed it is very simple to insert the canes from above that will result firmly fixed between the iron bars and the wood poles.

Once the canes are inserted into the "guides" it will be the time to make the loopholes. Cut the canes for 20cm at the center of the "wall" of teh hide at the desired height. Fix the two frames previously made screwing them into the canes. Once the frame are fixed finish the work inserting other camo material like leaves, little branches and so on to better mimetize the loopholes.

The hide is now finished. I know it is not the maximum in technology and elegance but with a small expense you will dispose of an excellent natural hide. The next day I built the hide birds already run between the feeder, the trees and the hide itself.
